Anti-Bullying Prevention Information Table: Helping Children Choose Kindness

October Is Anti-Bullying Prevention Month

Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and included.

Bullying can affect a child's confidence, sense of belonging, and willingness to participate in school and community life. October's Anti-Bullying Prevention Month gives families an opportunity to have important conversations with children about how we treat one another and how each of us can contribute to a more caring environment.

The Family Life Project is taking part in this important conversation by hosting an Anti-Bullying Prevention Information Table at Brandywine Hundred Library on October 10th.

📌 Join Us at Brandywine Hundred Library

  • Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026

  • Time: 1:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

  • Location: Brandywine Hundred Library – Lobby

  • Address: 1300 Foulk Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803

We invite children and families to stop by our table while visiting the library. This will be an opportunity to learn more about bullying prevention and take part in a simple activity designed to encourage children to think about the kind of school year they want to help create.

Give Your Child an Opportunity to Make a Pledge

One special part of the event will be the opportunity for children to pledge for the year.

A pledge gives children a chance to make a personal commitment to how they want to treat others throughout the school year. It can open the door to conversations between children and their parents about kindness, respect, inclusion, and standing up for others.

We want children to understand that creating a positive environment isn't only the responsibility of adults. Their choices matter, too.

A child who chooses to include someone who feels left out, speak kindly to a classmate, or tell a trusted adult when something isn't right can make a meaningful difference.

A Small Commitment With a Bigger Purpose

The pledge itself may be simple, but the conversation behind it is important.

Children spend a significant part of their lives learning and growing alongside other children. Helping them understand how their actions affect others is part of helping them develop healthy relationships and become responsible members of their communities.

For parents and caregivers, this event can also provide an opportunity to start or continue conversations at home:

  • How can we show kindness when someone is different from us?

  • What should we do if we see someone being bullied?

  • Who can we talk to when we need help?

  • How can we make sure others feel included?

These conversations don't have to happen only when there is a problem. They can become part of the everyday way families help children understand compassion, respect, and responsibility.

Your Child Will Receive a Prize

Children who participate by making a pledge will also receive a prize.

The prize is a small way to recognize their participation and remind them of the commitment they made for the year.

More importantly, we hope the pledge becomes something they carry with them beyond the event, a reminder that their words, choices, and actions can help shape the environment around them.

Building a Kinder Community Together

At The Family Life Project, we believe supporting children means looking beyond one moment or one event. It means creating opportunities for families to learn, connect, and have conversations that can make a difference in everyday life.

Anti-bullying prevention is a community effort. When children, parents, caregivers, schools, libraries, and community organizations work together, we can encourage environments where children feel supported and know that they have people they can turn to.

We invite you to bring your child to the Anti-Bullying Prevention Information Table at Brandywine Hundred Library on October 10th.

Stop by, learn more, make a pledge for the year, and help your child take one small step toward creating a kinder school community.
